Secondary Geometry

This working group aims to investigate the potential of GeoGebra for teaching and learning
Geometry in secondary schools. Thereby, we will focus on the following topics:
• teaching experiences in the use of GeoGebra for teaching and learning Geometry in
secondary schools
• teaching ideas in the use of GeoGebra for teaching and learning Geometry in
secondary schools
• teaching ideas in the use of GeoGebra as a heuristic tool
• new didactical teaching concepts for learning Geometry in secondary schools with
GeoGebra
• research results

Summary of the working group

We shared and discussed some teaching material from the GeoGebraTube.

For example we discussed (nearly) “real life” problems.

We also talked about the new approach of teaching, which means:

Using GeoGebra in two different ways:

GeoGebra supports the new approach of the teaching

“We” need some didactical materials for the teachers. There are not enough yet!

More general conceptions are needed – not only separated examples, not only some very good GeoGebra-Files. There should be a concept like a “necklace” – with good examples along a good idea.

There should be some textbooks included the new way/approach of teaching with GeoGebra.

Maybe at the next GeoGebra-Conference there can be a track or workshop that introduces textbooks that have included GeoGebra.
